Transitional Georgian Gem
After having worked with the owners on the redesign of their home in Durham, NC, we were invited to design and oversee the renovation of this storied Georgian-style home in Dallas. Built in 1948, this traditional brick home with its slate roof and Georgian architectural details now stands at 7,400 sf after a 1970 remodel, and it was the residence of Ross Perot Jr. and his family in the 1980’s.
Today, tradition meets the unexpected in our makeover of this Georgian gem with an abundance of harmonious juxtapositions. In the office, a sharp-edged distressed metal chandelier casts a soft glow on dark polished wood and leather. Intricate, undulating mosaics accent the strict geometry of gray marble floor tiles in the master bath, while in the dining room, reflections of light and soft textiles appear in the dark high-gloss walls. Bits of exotica here meet sparingly applied opulence there. Anything but predictable, it even boasts a secret lounge!
